Indian Railways have prepared a National Rail Plan (NRP) for India ^aEUR??? 2030. The Plan is to create a ^aEUR~future ready^aEURTM Railway system by 2030. The NRP is aimed to formulate strategies based on both operational capacities and commercial policy initiatives to increase modal share of the Railways in freight to 45%. The objective of the Plan is to create capacity ahead of demand, which in turn would also cater to future growth in demand right up to 2050 and also increase the modal share of Railways to 45% in freight traffic and to continue to sustain it. To achieve this objective all possible financial models including Public Private Partnership (PPP) are being considered.....

Adding one more tourist attraction near "Statue of Unity", Vadodara Division, Western Railway has awarded first of its kind contract in Indian Railways for development of Art Gallery with Souvenir shop at Kevadiya Railway station under PPP initiative.Drawing on the benefits of PPP model, the Art Gallery will showcase different Art & Craft forms of Gujarat and India and will be developed and operated by private party with earnings to Railways of 24.7 lacs and potential revenue of 2.83cr. This concept will not only enrich the experience of people visiting Kevadiya, but on social front, this unique concept will also provide employment to the local tribal people of Narmada district by giving them an opportunity to promote their tribal art. National Rail Museum today organized an exhibition on the occasion of National Unity Day-the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, in which photos relating to prominent events of the life of Sardar Patel were exhibited. The exhibition will continue upto 14th November. The exhibition was inaugurated by Secretary Railway Board, Mr. R.N. Singh. The Director of National Rail Museum, Mr. Ashish Gundal welcomed Mr. Singh with bouquet of flowers. Mr. R.N. Singh offered floral tributes at the replica statute of unity, placed over there. Mr. Singh saw the photos of Sardar Patel presented in the exhibition, relating to his childhood, student life, movement against the increase in tax on farmers in Kheda District, Bardoli Farmers Movement, Election to Ahmedabad Municipality and Chairmanship of Sanitation Committee, meeting with Mahatma Gandhi and his contribution in the freedom movement and his role in unification of more than 500 hundred princely states into India. He appreciated the efforts of National Rail Museum in organizing the exhibition.....
